How to Set Test Availability Exceptions

In deploying a test, faculty can make exceptions to the availability settings for one or more users or groups.  This feature can be used to address:

  • approved accommodations such as extended time
  • students who may need to take an exam at an alternate date and time from the rest of the class
  • students who may need to re-take an exam due to technical issues

Locate your test and click on the options menu to the right of the name of the test and select Edit the Test Options.

Scroll down to the Test Availability Exceptions section and click Add User or Group.

Select the appropriate student(s) or group(s) by clicking the box next to the name(s) and then clicking the Submit button at the bottom right .  

The student or group name(s) will be listed allowing you to make exceptions for:

  • Timer
  • Availability
  • Number of Attempts  

Timer

If you have set a timer for the test overall, you can adjust the time for the specific user(s) or group(s) by typing in the new limit in the box under the Timer column.  You may also choose to select the Auto Submit option.  Time is measured in minutes.  

Availability

To open the test for the specific user(s) or group(s), click on the calender icon under the Availability column.  

Enter the adjusted Availablility start and end dates and times or click the calendar and clock icons for pop-up selectors and click Save.

Number of Attempts

To set a different number of attempts for  the specific user(s) or group(s), click on the pull-down menu under the Attempts column.  

If you've selected Multiple Attempts, enter the number of attempts for the specific user(s) or group(s).

Click the Submit button at the bottom right of the window.
